We were a bit at our wit's end trying to train our goldendoodle puppy because she is so motivated by treats but as soon as there is no treat, there was just no listening. My favorite thing with Karl is that he is teaching us how to move our puppy forward progressively, with more listening and less treats, so week over week we are building on top of prior lessons with her and getting an excitable puppy to focus and to follow along. It's really rewarding to see our progress and to grow with our Kona into a great relationship.

So many of the trainers we worked with have big egos and weren’t good with people, which is critical since it’s all about training the human! Karl uses the positive reinforcement approach, which we love because it makes it fun for everyone and easy to implement. So lucky to have him help us create a better relationship with our dogs.

Having never had a dog before, we really needed ground up training for both our new puppy, Bella, and OURSELVES! We knew that having a well trained puppy would be the difference between joy and misery. Our rescue organization put us in touch with Karl and he told us about his “puppy package”. We signed up immediately and could not be happier with our decision.

He didn’t just tell us to do this or that, but what was going on in Bella’s young mind and how we needed to approach getting her to become a well trained and happy pup. Karl trained us as much as he trained Bella. He also uses completely positive reinforcement training methods as opposed to negative or disciplinary methods, which is great.

Most importantly, Karl’s methods worked—really well. Bella, who was rescued from the streets of Tijuana, is an incredibly well behaved, social and playful joy in our lives now. We’ve continued with Karl into Bella’s young adulthood with agility training and the occasional “tune-up” when “Teen” behaviors crop up.

I can’t imagine not having Karl there for us and Bella.

His genuine love for the dogs he trains is apparent in the way he interacts with his clients, both human and animal. His skills and knowledge are spot on and have helped me to understand the training process so that I am able to carry on even without him by my side. Sugar, my stubborn Jindo puppy, who has been suffering from separation anxiety has made considerable improvements in all areas and is becoming the best dog she can be. Karl goes above and beyond and I would and have recommended him to anyone looking to improve their relationship with their fur babies.

He's wonderful with both dogs and people :) He helped me tame my 3 small, spirited rescue dogs. My 9 year old, female, 16lb, spaniel mix had trouble with excessive barking and lunging at garbage trucks, our gardeners, strangers, big dogs, skateboards, etc. My 2 year old, male, 8lb, chihuahua mix foster dog was a frustrated greeter and would get so excited to see another dog he'd appear very aggressive. My 6 month old, 7lb terrier mix puppy had trouble with barking excessively and not obeying commands while on leash. Karl patiently diagnosed their issues and came up with solutions to resolve them. All of his training methods are reward-based and positive, so the dogs are really happy to work with him, and as the owner you can feel good about implementing his techniques. Karl is also very personable and great with people! He explains concepts and relays information in a clear way that is easy to understand. You can tell he genuinely loves his job, and always goes the extra mile. For one lesson in dog socialization, his lovely wife Anna and adorable dog Jackson came along to help. After each session, Karl sends a follow up email summarizing the work that was done in that session and explaining how to continue training moving forward. I highly recommend Karl for all of your dog training needs! :)
